Day 7: Kakheti - Shida Kartli - Tbilisi - Departure
Transfer from airport to Kutaisi;
Overnight in Kutaisi;

Visit Bagrati Cathedral named after Bagrat III, the first king of united Georgia, the beautiful Cathedral is a well-preserved complex, with wonderful mosaics and wall paintings. The cathedral and monastery represent the flowering of medieval architecture in Georgia.
Gelati - the greatest monastery cathedral of Georgian culture “Golden Age” (XII c.); here at the main entrance is the grave of David the Builder. The king wanted to be buried in a place where all people coming to the monastery would step on his grave.

“Prometheus" cave is one of the richest caves of Europe. It is characterized by the variety of underground rivers and beautiful landscapes. Walking route for tourists is 1060 m. near the main entrance about 60metres long there is a lake. The cave itself is very breathtaking with its specious architectural halls, which are 16 of them and each one is distinct by scales and unsurpassed shape. Promete cave is one of the richest with its space, variety and underground rivers and landscape.

Gonio Fortress - the Fortress of Antique Age (I-IIcc. AD) a real paradise for the lovers of historical and cultural antiquities. Former strategic politic economic and cultural centre of the eastern roman border, the place of burial of one of the apostles of Christ-Margata in Apsarosy.

Tbilisi – city tour:
Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi - Constructed in 2004, it is the third-tallest Eastern Orthodox Cathedral in the World. “Sameba” is a synthesis of traditional styles dominating the Georgian church architecture at various stages in history and has some Byzantine undertones.
Metekhi - The church of XIII c. located on the bank of the river Mtkvari in the old city;
Straddling the Mtkvari River is an arresting new pedestrian bridge “Bridge of Piece” courtesy of Italian architect Michel De Lucchi- the structure composed of glass and iron with a 150 m canopy roof connecting Old Tbilisi with a new recreational park on Rike.
The unusual novelty on the background of Old Tbilisi near the Baratashvili Bridge is the biggest House of Justice in the world built by famous Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas
Abanotubani (Baths` district) - The Asian-type coloring baths built on the hot sulfur springs-all the bath are below the ground level and are overlapped by semicircular domes and are naturally lit via glass lantern over the cupola
Thone – Georgian bakery with the mouthwatering flavors of Georgian bread;
Walk along Chardin Street a very narrow and short, it is named after a French explorer Jan Chardin who visited Tbilisi in 1663. It’s a great way to wander around the local art galleries and souvenir shops with a chance to refuel in one of the area’s many cafes.
Sioni – The former Cathedral of VI-XIII cc. with the wall painting of XIX-XX cc;
Anchiskhati - The ancient basilica of the VI c. in the old city;

Telavi city the centre of Kakheti;
Ikalto - the church-chapels of VI-XIII cc. and the greatest Academy of X-XIII cc;
Alaverdi – cross-domed cathedral founded in the 6th c by Assyrian Father Ioseb and was once a significant ecclesiastic and educational centre.
Old and New Shuamta - The Architecturally completely different two monastery complexes (V-XVI cc.) with frescos and inscriptions made in older Georgian Asomtavruli alphabet situated in the hollows between forest covered mountains, naturally protected from three sides;
Tsinandali - Prince Al. Chavchavadze`s residence with unique wine collection and the beautiful English park located in the village well-known for its vine species, and wine tasting.
On the way Sighnaghi – can be called as a pearl of Kakheti, it has unique architecture and charming environment; “City of Love”;

Drive to Shida (Inner) Kartli; visit the ancient town-museum - Mtskheta:
Jvari - the unique paragon of Architecture and landscape mixture – the church of VI-VII cc;
Svetitskhoveli - the greatest church in Georgia and the unique masterpiece of Architectural art;
Samtavro - St. Niсo’s chapel of IV c. and the ancient nunnery;
Return to Tbilisi.
